Lately, the leafy goodness of house plants is taking over when it comes to all things cool in home decor. This is not surprising, as we humans are inherently drawn to green spaces - it's in our nature (forgive the pun!). Whether you live out in the country or in a bustling metropolis, house plans are a wonderful way to bring the great green outdoors... well, indoors!
This is good news, as not only do house plants add a refreshing touch to your living space, research has shown that they can also have a very beneficial impact on both physical and mental health.
Much like a painting needs a frame, plants need the perfect pot and surrounding decor to bring out their beauty. Oxidised (rusted) bronze is a beautiful way to display house plants, as the turquoise-green and gold patina brings out the colour and texture in the leaves, and vice versa.
I hope you will find inspiration in the mood board below, which is all about combining house plants with oxidised bronze. Please note that I do not receive any sort of payment through the links below - I have compiled this mood board purely based on my own tastes and love for plants. Some of the home decor items below are my own creations - if you're interested I would love it if you checked out my online store here.
1. Distressed Bronze Wall Plaque
The custom oxidised bronze wall plaque above (click here to find out more) makes the perfect companion for a Fiddle Leaf Fig tree. The golden and green hues in the leaves are picked up in the wall art and complement each other. This combination is a great way to go with an Asian room theme (picture by Freepik). The wall plaque can be made for any character (Chinese or otherwise), so you can get your very own entirely unique piece of wall art made.
2. Bronze & Turquoise Oval Coffee Table
This oval coffee table from Maisons du Monde (click here) has a bronze coloured metal frame, with two wooden surfaces. The upper surface has an oxidised bronze effect, with hues ranging from light blue, to turquoise, to green. The surface colouration combines very well with other bronze or brass coloured home decor, as well as with green foliage. As there is a spectrum of different green tints present in the table surface, it makes the perfect piece of furniture to display your house plants on, no matter their shade of green.
3. Two-Tone Rustic Bronze Planter
This angular bronze planter (click here) is made with real bronze (~80%) and an eco-friendly material made from plant matter (corn starch). The plant pot is also made using 100% renewable electricity. If you love plants as much as I do, then you probably also care about the environment, so this is a great feature. The pots can be customised in different ways; the one in this photo has an oxidised (rusted) bronze lower half and a polished bronze upper half, which - when it catches the light - looks to me like a sunset over water.
4. Metal Hairpin Leg Plant Stands
Elevate your plants to the next level (quite literally) with these bronze metallic plant stands from Mdesign (click here). Bringing your plants up off the ground places them more prominently within one's line of sight and helps make them stand out. The minimalist hairpin leg design of these plant stands does so without taking up visual space, and works well in any style of room, from modern industrial to farmhouse chique.
5. Circular Bronze Wall Planters
Bring the beauty of nature into your home with these bronze circular wall planters (wall vases). Grow plants on your wall and/or fill with decorative stones, it's entirely up to you and your imagination. The wall vases are made with real bronze (~80%) which is oxidised (rusted) and polished by hand, resulting in an antique bronze patina. The inside of the planter is oxidised (rusted) bronze, giving a lovely turquoise-blue-green colouration, while the outside is polished bronze.
