As something of a sauna aficionado myself (that might be putting it lightly.... I'm completely addicted to them!), I was super excited when Harbor Saunas got in touch and asked me to make a set of antiqued brass plaques for their beautifully crafted outdoor saunas.
Based in Northeastern USA, Harbor Saunas designs and makes a range of different saunas, combining traditional design elements from the Northeast with timeless Scandinavian minimalism, drawing inspiration from the maritime heritage of these regions. Thoughtfully designed using a blend of both time-honoured and modern materials, the saunas are eye-catching, yet cosy. I recently finished the second instalment of brass signage, which I very much enjoyed making. I look forward to making more in the future!
All this writing about saunas has really given me an urge to go and visit one! I will now honour the centuries old practice of sauna.... in an old car park down the road. (There is a pop-up sauna there - not quite the same experience as in a Harbor Saunas one! At least the ice baths are kept nice and cold though.)
